What matters most when it comes to getting a job is a debate as old as higher education itself. Does that higher degree get your foot in the door, or does your past work experience count for more? And beyond this, how valuable are professional skills vis-à-vis work experience or academic credentials? Some may say that higher education serves you better in terms of staying employed. Others may feel strongly that equipping yourself with the right skills will ensure a great job with a top-notch employer for decades to come.
