Dr. Bernardine Renaldo Wong has been closely associated with Universiti Malaya (UM) since 1977. After earning B. Sc., M. Sc., and Ph. D. degrees in physics from UM, he eventually joined its Institute of Mathematical Sciences as Lecturer, before being promoted to Associate Professor and finally retiring in 2017 as Professor. He has taught engineering and computational mathematics, while his research and supervision has been mainly in theoretical nuclear physics and computational physics. Since 2007, Bernie has served in senior administrative capacities in the International & Corporate Relations Office, the Kong Zi Institute, and the UM Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCed). He was founding Vice President (Academic, Research & Internationalisation) of the International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW) and he continues to serve on its Board of Governors. Bernie became involved with university rankings in 2008 and participated in the QS-APPLE and QS-MAPLE conferences, serving for several years on the International Academic Advisory Committee for these conferences. Since retirement, he has continued to be actively engaged with university rankings and is currently Senior Research Analyst at the Corporate Data Centre at Universiti Malaya.
