Dr Mien Wee CHENG is Executive Director at Sunway Education Group, an established private education-focused enterprise in Malaysia, with institutions owned and governed by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation. Mien has responsibilities for Sunway’s international schools and post-secondary certificate, diploma, pre-university, and professional programmes offered at two colleges. With more than 35 years in Malaysia’s private education space, Mien’s experience includes cross-border higher education programmes with Australian, UK and US institutions as well as Malaysia’s own home-grown programmes. Mien received her Bachelor of Science with Education and Master in Education from University of Malaya in Malaysia, Master of Arts in Work Based Learning from Middlesex University in UK, and PhD in Education from Monash University in Australia. Her research interests include education reforms in Southeast Asia, internationalisation of education, and sustainable education. Mien has worked in research projects funded by the Malaysian government and presented papers at local and international conferences.
