Mr. Paryono has been working in the area of education, especially in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for more than 30 years. Currently, he is the Deputy Director for Professional Affairs and the Research Manager and Specialist at the Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO VOCTECH) in Brunei Darussalam. Before joining the regional centre, he was a lecturer at State University of Malang Indonesia, and visiting lecturer at various universities in the US, including the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Washington-Seattle and in China at Beijing Normal University. He was also a recipient of a Fulbright visiting scholar at Cornell University.

Mr. Paryono holds a Ph.D. degree for a dual title in Workforce Education and Development and Comparative International Education from Pennsylvania State University, master’s degree in Continuing and Vocational Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Education from the State University of Malang Indonesia.

His research and publications focus on TVET and skills development, innovative teaching-learning, qualification frameworks, occupational standards, quality assurance, ICT and digitalisation in education, skills development, integration of life skills/transferable/transversal skills/soft skills in TVET, education for sustainable development, teacher standards, and preparing TVET for industry requirements.
