He earned his B.Sc. in biology from the University of Jordan, M.S. in Microbiology from California State University in Fresno USA, and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Washington State University Pullman USA 1983. He worked as a scholar, teacher, and administrator, with over three decades of academic and administrative experience and leadership in higher education. He was the president of University of Jordan, Hashemite University as well as Mutah University, and he also held the position of founding president for Jordanian Higher Education Accreditation Commission. He was elected as Assistance Secretary-General of the Arab Association of Universities in July 2018 till now.
