Professor Michael Tse Chi-kong is currently Associate Vice-President (Strategic Research) and Chair Professor of Electrical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. His research interests include network applications, power electronics and nonlinear systems. He is a recipient of a number of research and invention prizes, including several Best Paper Prizes from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and various journals. He won the Grand Prize at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival in 2019. In 2005, 2010 and 2018, he was appointed as IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, and has served on a number of IEEE committees, including the IEEE Fellows Committee and the IEEE Awards Committee. Additionally, he has chaired the Steering Committee for IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering.

He has been awarded honorary professorships and distinguished fellowships by a number of Australian, Canadian and Chinese universities. He is Chang Jiang Scholar Chair Professor at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Honorary Professor at the University of Melbourne University; and Distinguished Professor-at-Large at the University of Western Australia.

He was elected Fellow of IEEE in 2005 and of the Institution of Engineers Australia in 2009.
