Professor Yan Hong is Wong Chun Hong Professor of Data Engineering and Chair Professor of Computer Engineering at City University of Hong Kong and the Director of the Centre for Intelligent Multidimensional Data Analysis (CIMDA).

Professor Yan’s research interests include image processing and computer vision, computer animation, machine learning, and computational biology and medicine. He is widely recognised for his highly innovative work in advancing technological and economic developments. He is a Fellow of the US National Academy of Inventors, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) (2021), and the International Association for Pattern Recognition (2000). He is a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (2019), and Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society (2010). He has won numerous awards including the Norbert Wiener Award from the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society (2016), Excellent Product Award at the China Hi-Tech Fair (2013), and Lotfi Zadeh Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics (2013).
