PRESENTATION ABSTRACTS

Presentation 1: AppliedHE, The New Kid on the Block

An introduction to the AppliedHE (“Applied Higher Education”) as a concept, organization and our approach to higher education quality improvement and promotion. AppliedHE bridges the gap between universities, students and employers by delivering innovative higher education evaluation, branding and networking solutions. The relevance of the AppliedHE concept and services to global university rankings, higher education internationalization, quality improvement, industry collaboration and student recruitment are emphasized.

Presentation 2: International student mobility post-Covid: trends and insights

International student mobility post-Covid: trends and insights” explores global student mobility trends pre-Covid. Pivot towards non-OECD countries and East Asia were already taking place. The pandemic and post-Covid-19 recession appear to be accelerating trends that would have taken decades to unfold, such as intra-regional mobility, the expansion of TNE and the recognition of online, distance and blended learning. Students are value-driven and likely to place greater importance on courses closely tailored to the job market. As such, demand for micro-credentials is likely to expand. Students awareness of climate change is increasing, and universities’ engagement with the sustainability and climate change agenda is becoming a factor, which students consider when deciding where to study.

Presentation 3: AppliedHE Ratings: JOB-Ready, ENGLISH-Ready and ONLINE-Ready

An introduction to the AppliedHE™ JOB-Ready, ENGLISH-Ready and ONLINE-Ready Rating systems. JOB-Ready is an all-round international evaluation system based on stakeholder opinions (employers, alumni, students, faculty and peer faculty) that measures the quality of an institution against criteria that are most relevant to students, employers, government and other social actors. ENGLISH-Ready evaluates the prevalence, quality and support system of English-taught programs in non-English speaking countries, enabling institutions to benchmark themselves internationally and better market themselves to international students. ONLINE-Ready evaluates the quality of online learning against a set of global best-practices.
